I agree with this, but however so far Sonic the Hedgehog 4 has semi-broken this...

That picture is spot on. Although I agree with you, I hope Sonic 4 doesn't stick with that cycle because it actually looks pretty promising.

Anyway, I've said it before and I'll say it again: I don't believe in the Sonic Cycle. In fact, I usually consider it trolling whenever it's posted. It does not do new Sonic games (or any game) fair justice to base them off previous mistakes (or even previous successes), and if you have pessimistic feelings for the game then tell us WHY you have a bad feeling, don't give us a picture that says "LULZ SAWNIK O-SIX SUCKS AND DIS WILL SUCK BECUZ SAWNIK O-SIX SUCKS LOLZ!!!"

And games like Sonic Rush (which had old characters, new characters, same-old gameplay, and was critically acclaimed all-around) and any game pre-Heroes are enough proof against it.

TL;DR:

I agree with MVS.
Not all Sonic games were like that.
The 2D ones got better reviews.

If you're smart enough, you know the Sonic cycle regarded to the more modern sonic games, which I agreed with, but then I said Sonic 4 seems like its breaking the cycle, since more screenshots are released and most people haven't lost "hope" in sonic...
